Flying is stressful. It’s an undeniable fact. However, you can take the edge off the process by following these tips for preparing your bags!

PLAN IN ADVANCE

Ideally, you should start packing a few days in advance – even if you just make a list of what you need. You definitely want to know what your airline charges for checked and carry-on bags too, so you can plan accordingly! And remember, the last thing you want to have to do is do laundry so you have enough underwear for your trip right before your flight! Take the time in advance to spare yourself departure stress!

DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

Even the best planners sometimes forget something. Remember to give yourself a break and not worry TOO much. Most hotels actually have complementary toothbrushes at the front desk, and sometimes forgetting something is actually a great chance to do some shopping!

TRAVEL LIGHT

Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish what you need from what you just want. Ask yourself: do I really need to bring my laptop? Or can I make due for a few days with my phone? Do I need a raincoat, or can I just get away with layers and a windbreaker? Packing only what you need means you don’t have to lug around as much, and it keeps you focused!

ROLL WITH IT

When packing suitcases, most of us think you should fold your clothes to avoid wrinkles and maximize space – but there’s a better way! Rolling your clothes is more space efficient, and while you may get more tiny wrinkles, you avoid the deep creases that come with folding clothes.
Really looking to pack a lot in there? Try buying a “compression sack.” There are various brands, but they help suck out air from heavy garments so you can squeeze even more into your bag. They’re like Spanx for your clothes!

SKIP IRONING – TAKE A HOT SHOWER!

Speaking of wrinkles, if you don’t feel like breaking out the iron to take care of your clothes, try taking a hot shower and hanging your clothes from the shower rod as soon as you’re finished. The steam in the air will refresh your clothes!
And if you really want a stress-free trip, book a car from Zoom for when you arrive. There’s no beating the convenience and control of having your own vehicle in a new town!
